The Supervet Heads North

Professor Noel Fitzpatrick is making quite a name for himself and that name is Supervet! The Supervet TV series which is filmed at his practice, Fitzpatrick Referrals, showcases the advanced treatments which are now available for our pets. Many of these have been invented by Noel himself. But the animals which appear in this series are generally cherished pets whose owners have insured them or who are prepared to fund the costly treatments.

Abandoned Pets

Many animals are not so lucky. A depressing 250,000 pets are abandoned in the UK every year which means that there are always plenty of furry friends looking for new homes. A new Channel 4 programme is to be broadcast live from the Newcastle Dog and Cat shelter in Benton and will highlight the plight of the animals there. The five-day TV campaign to find new homes for pets will be hosted by none other than Supervet, Noel Fitzpatrick.

Animal Rescue Live

Animal Rescue Live: Supervet Special will be broadcast from the Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter for an hour each night over five weeknights from August 7 to 11. The aim is to find new families for all of the animals at the shelter. It’s a tall order but if anyone can do it, the Supervet is the man! His love for and appreciation of the animals he treats always shines through and he is a very compelling and persuasive individual.

Promoting Adoption

The programme will also aim to highlight the needs of animals up and down the country and so encourage potential adopters to visit their local shelters. The producers of the programme are looking for potential adopters to view the animals during the filming of the show.

Prof Fitzpatrick said: “Through raising awareness of the fun, love and hope that rehoming an animal can bring to families everywhere, I genuinely think that we speak a language of joy and compassion, and I think that this is a fantastic message to put out into the world right now.”

Must-Watch TV

If you follow the Supervet’s exploits on TV and are experiencing withdrawal symptoms following the conclusion of the last series, the new programme should prove to be compelling viewing. But do get your box of tissues ready because this is likely to be an emotional show. But, hopefully, one with many happy endings!
