The countdown is on and things are hotting up. That’s right, Summer will soon be here and with it comes plenty of partying, pina-coladas, and pooches?

Yep buddy, Summer 2017 is packed full with events not to be sniffed at (or you know, to absolutely sniffed at) for your four-legged friend. So, what exactly are these exciting events and when should you should be putting a date in the doggy diary?

DogFest

DogFest 2017 is the canine king of summer events!

Sponsored by Vets4Pets and hosted by the oh so popular, pet whisperer and all-round superhero of the animal kingdom; Noel FitzPatrick, guest of this super festival will go barking mad for doggy displays, amazing activities, stalls, live music, and much much more.

Bounding into action on 17th and 18th June in Arley Hall, Cheshire, it’s wise to take your tissues because Professor FitzPatrick will be recounting some touching tales from previous shows, but it’s not all tears and fuzzy hearts, as he will also be on paw to answer any questions and provide expert advice on a whole host of canine queries.

Muddy Dog Challenge

Definitely one for the dogs to really sink themselves into. Running from the 6th May through to 30th September, the Muddy Dog Challenge is the perfect opportunity for both you and your pooch to get down and dirty

You can choose to compete in either 2.5km or 5km obstacle runs with your dog, but be warned, as this course does require a certain level of fitness (although a casual trot is allowed), but you can count on supportive paws to help you out every step of the way.

Taking place in Nottingham, Windsor, Essex or Kent, take your pick and your pup for some extraordinary muddy fun. All funds raised will go directly towards the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. What better reason could you need to take part in some muddy mayhem?

 DogJog

From one run to another, The DogJog is a great opportunity to come and have a “bark in the park” and get fit with your furry friend.

There’s no excuse not to get involved in a relaxed environment where both you and your canine companion can meet like-minded pals and have some fun in the (hopeful) sun!

And when you both cross that finish line, there’ll be a doggy bag packed full of treats, including a DogJog collar keyring medal for Fido to wear proudly around his neck. Get those feet and paws down to any of the 17 events being held around the UK between June-October.

Paws in the Park

Get ready to wag those tails (that’s both you and your dog) because on the 1st and 2nd July this year, Paws in the Park is here and it’s puptastic! There will be doggy competitions for your pooch to take part in, from Dash N Splash to Agility – think Crufts 2017 for some hilarious inspiration – your four-legged friend could well be taking home Gold.

There will also be Guide Dogs and Gun Dogs aplenty, alongside the pitter patter of Disc Dog and Trickdogging act “The Wonder Collies”. Feast your eyes on the best of canine entertainment acts, Mini Paws activity centre and sensational shopping stands for all your pup need, Paws in the Park really does come out Best in Show.
