Hound’s about that? Man’s best friend could soon be joining you at the dinner table, as human foods get a canine makeover, thanks to special, dog-friendly ingredients.
Dog-friendly wheatflour noodles are indeed big in Japan, where their low-salt content make them the paw-fect treat to get the VIP of the house scuttling across the kitchen, in search of noodle manufacturer Seimenya’s latest canine delicacy. Square-shaped and flat, ‘Inu senyou’ (especially for dogs) noodles are additive-free and easily digestible.
- Pizza the Action
Bow wow wow! Wet Dog Pizza Co. of Newquay, have rustled up a tail-waggingly awesome dog menu, to refuel pups after a long day of stick-fetching on the beach. A whopping 7” slab of Peanut Butter, Coconut Oil, Dried Capelin fish & Whitefish Jerky Sprinkle slobberiness, washed down with Bottom Sniffer Dog Beer or Pawsecco Dog Wine? Mmm … we are hungry now!
- Chocolate, I must have chocolate!
Mmmm, we all love it … and whilst we know never to give our doggy darlings human chocolate, they can now get their furry mitts on their own sticky delights. No Bones Canine Confectionery have introduced a droolicious range of handmade theobromine-free chocolate desserts, that don’t have an additive or preservative in sight, so time to tuck in!
Treats available include: Dog White Chocolate Bone Cones, Dog Milk Chocolate Donuts and Dog White and Milk Chocolate Barkwell Tarts; so plenty to cater for every wet-nosed chocolate lover and their dietary needs. Yum!
- Holy Mascarpone!
Canine prayers have been answered in Mexico City, as Don Gelato ice cream parlour owner Mauricio Montoya has created a ‘puppy ice cream’, made from natural yogurt and lactobacilli bacteria (the good stuff), to satisfy doggy appetites and to keep their tummies feeling good. Whilst human ice cream is a canine no-no, Montoya claims that his specially-designed frozen lollies aid doggy digestion, so its furry customers can safely lick away, either off a stick, by cone or out of a bowl. Hurra!
- What … Hooch for your Pooch?
As the dog-days of summer approach, what better way for your pooch to relax after a long afternoon of ball-chasing than with a refreshing tipple? Well, now they can, thanks to the introduction of Snuffle Dog Beer.
Savvy pub landlord Craig Armstrong didn’t paw-se for thought when he spotted the alcohol-free brew, whilst visiting a Nottinghamshire brewery. Sniffing an opportunity (although it could have been Snuffle’s beefy aroma), Craig offered his local hound crowd the chance to partake in a drop of the canine-friendly goodness themselves. Unsurprisingly, they lapped it up!
Whilst brewed with products used in human consumption, Snuffle Dog Beer also comes in chicken flavour and contains malt barley extracts, mineral oils, Vitamin B and is strictly 0% proof.
